Minimal canonical comprehensive Gröbner systems

چکیده
This is the continuation of Montes’ paper ‘‘On the canonical discussion of polynomial systems with parameters’’. In this paper, we define the Minimal Canonical Comprehensive Gröbner System of a parametric ideal and fix under which hypothesis it exists and is computable. An algorithm to obtain a canonical description of the segments of the Minimal Canonical CGS is given, thus completing the whole MCCGS algorithm (implemented in Maple and Singular). We show its high utility for applications, such as automatic theorem proving and discovering, and compare it with other existing methods. A way to detect a counterexample to deny its existence is outlined, although the high number of tests done give evidence of the existence of the Minimal Canonical CGS. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. In this paper we complete the algorithm DISPGB (Discussing Parametric Gröbner Basis) from the last paper by Montes, in order to obtain the Minimal Canonical Comprehensive Gröbner System (MCCGS). Given a parametric ideal, the MCCGS algorithm provides the minimal partition of the parameter space with associated Gröbner bases having the same type of solutions over each segment and provides a canon...
متن کاملAutomatic Discovery of Geometry Theorems Using Minimal Canonical Comprehensive Gröbner Systems
The main proposal in this paper is the merging of two techniques that have been recently developed. On the one hand, we consider a new approach for computing some specializable Gröbner basis, the so called Minimal Canonical Comprehensive Gröbner Systems (MCCGS) that is -roughly speakinga computational procedure yielding “good” bases for ideals of polynomials over a field, depending on several p...
متن کامل2 9 Ja n 20 06 Canonical discussion of polynomial systems with parameters ∗
Given a parametric polynomial ideal I, the algorithm DISPGB, introduced by the author in 2002, builds up a binary tree describing a dichotomic discussion of the different reduced Gröbner bases depending on the values of the parameters. An improvement using a discriminant ideal to rewrite the tree was described by Manubens and the author in 2005. In this paper we describe how to iterate the use ...

متن کاملDetermining the order of minimal realization of descriptor systems without use of the Weierstrass canonical form
A common method to determine the order of minimal realization of a continuous linear time invariant descriptor system is to decompose it into slow and fast subsystems using the Weierstrass canonical form. The Weierstrass decomposition should be avoided because it is generally an ill-conditioned problem that requires many complex calculations especially for high-dimensional systems. The present ...
